Introducing Andrew McSweeney – Te Pūkenga Deputy Chief Executive Learner Employer Experience and Attraction

Kia ora,

On behalf of Te Pūkenga I want to introduce myself, let you know we’re consulting with our kaimahi (staff) on our future operating structure, and reassure you that our day-to-day business delivery continues as usual.

Introducing my role

Some of you may know me from my time as Chief Executive of ServiceIQ, the industry training organisation for the aviation, hospitality, retail, travel, tourism and museums sectors, and now part of Te Pūkenga.

This year I moved to a new role at Te Pūkenga as Pourangi Ākonga me te Ahumahi | Deputy Chief Executive Learner Employer Experience and Attraction.

This new role includes leading mahi (work) to continuously improve what we do for industry and employers, and of course ākonga (our learners).

I know just how critical the partnership between industry, employers, and vocational education is to addressing our skills shortages and supporting thriving regions and communities, and I look forward to engaging more in future.

Te Pūkenga consultation

You may hear that Te Pūkenga is currently consulting kaimahi (staff) on a proposed future structure to bring together roles from the previous 24 industry training organisations and polytechnics that joined Te Pūkenga, into one aligned organisation structure.

The proposed changes are designed to improve the way that vocational education is provided in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Throughout the consultation period, Te Pūkenga remains committed to delivering and maintaining high-quality education across the motu (country).

Our kaimahi delivering services to ākonga (learners) and employers both on-campus, on-line and in your workplaces, will continue unchanged.

Consultation with kaimahi will close in five weeks on 20 July.
