Third year hairdressing apprentice Bella Lamont’s hairdressing journey started in her last year of high school, when she completed work experience in a salon.
Having always enjoyed watching her hairdresser work and being pampered herself, she realised hairdressing was the career she wanted to pursue.
After leaving school and completing her first year of study at a provider, Bella wanted to gain more hands-on experience and decided to begin her journey in the salon.
“I was aware there were several ways I could become qualified, and I’m pleased to have chosen the apprenticeship path,” says Bella.
Being in the salon has helped Bella stay motivated, as she knows she’s part of a team who is counting on her.
“Not wanting to let my team and clients down keeps me motivated on the days when I find myself thinking ‘I don’t want to’,” says Bella. “I’ve found my support crew – I’m not scared to ask questions and put myself out there.”
For Bella, getting qualified means she knows her skills will be able to take her around the world.
“I want to travel to Europe – experience Greece, London, Croatia… I’m looking forward to becoming qualified and broadening my career options overseas.”
For now, Bella is focusing on her final assessments. “I plan on rewarding myself with new scissors once I’ve qualified!”
