Great news for new apprentices!  

During 2025, fees for first-time HITO apprentices will be reduced by 50% for the first year of their apprenticeship.  

This means that new apprentices who sign in to a HITO Training Agreement between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025 will receive 50% off their first year of HITO fees. Eligible learners can be enrolled in any HITO apprenticeship programme, in any year, and must not have been previously signed in to a HITO Training Agreement.  

The 50% reduction will bring fees for first-time apprentices to $824.50 for the first year of training. Fees for subsequent years of training will return to full price.

Terms and Conditions 

  1. Reduced fees are only available towards the first year of an apprentices HITO fees, regardless of what apprenticeship programme or year they are in, as long as they have not previously signed in to a HITO training agreement. 
  2. Reduced fees will be applied from the date of sign in (between 1 January 2025 and 31 December) and cover 12 months of fees. Fees for subsequent years of the apprenticeship will return to full price.  
  3. The 50% reduction in fees is not transferable or redeemable in cash and can only be used toward HITO apprenticeship fees. 
  4. Learners previously signed in to a HITO training agreement, employers, those on a visa, or those classified as non-funded apprentices by TEC are not eligible to receive 50% off their fees. 
  5. Apprentices can only continue to receive reduced fees if they meet the progression terms and conditions outlined in their training agreement. If an apprentice does not meet the progression terms during their period of reduced fees, their fees will return to the full amount for the remainder of the year. 
  6. This offer is available between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025. 
  7. HITO reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to amend these terms and conditions.

Who is eligible for reduced fees? 

Funded apprentices who have not previously signed into a HITO Training Agreement may be eligible for reduced fees. To check your eligibility, please email support@hito.org.nz.  

Will my fees continue to be 50% off after the first year? 

No, fees will return to full price after the first year. 

What happens to my fees if I don’t meet my progression requirements? 

If an apprentice fails to meet their progression requirements as set out in the training agreement terms and conditions, HITO reserves the right to withdraw the fee reduction and charge the apprentice the full price for the remainder of their fees.
